Long ago, I went through a scare of thinking I had cancer, I went through blood tests, seen doctors. I was lucky enough not to have any problems. I understand more than most of the problems of this world are, mostly all of it focus around money problems. Being open about my 127k debt that I am in, I can see why the world's problems are money. Those tests are not cheap, and since I was still under my parents health insurance at the time, it was covered.

But what if you work, get sick, and loose that health coverage. How are you suppose to afford all the things you need? When you need coverage the most, it goes away. What is the point of having the insurance if it just goes away when you need it the most?

I can look outside my window right now and count endlessly on the people that seriously need it but can never afford it. Something so serious can be so expensive, money is money till the people get greedy with it and only want it all for themselves.

I've been used for money. Oh man, one to many times have I given people money only to realize it was used for drugs or something completely different than what I believed. But to this day I will not stop helping. Maybe not the same people, but if I know someone needs it more than myself...I will give it to them.

As of today I am still jobless, I don't have a steady income, my parents try to help me the best they can but have their own money problems with my mother's heart condition and my father loosing hours at work. I live with my boyfriends parents who are going through some medical issues themselves. My boyfriend works part time and helps me the best he can, but he can't help me pay off my loans. I have only 3k left in savings to get me buy and I can't touch it.

I wont stop helping, I can't. Even if these people don't deserve the help. If they have never done me wrong, than I'll still do my best to show them some kindness. Anything is better than nothing in a time when the world needs something.

I'm coming up on the end of my grace periods, still jobless and not a soul is hiring me ;( I think i might be over qualified to some places because of my degree. Just finding out what all my payments are going to be monthly with these guys is more than I believed it would be in the first place. Lets just say its over 600 a month. How do that figure a student (well most of us that like having social lives) to pay that right out of the buck? Oh sweet money tree, how we need you to grace us with your leafs of Franklin's!

I did apply to Pixar recently, received the e-mail as well that they received my portfolio and resume stuff. I hope they take the chance with me, we all have to start somewhere and even if I am low on the totem poll most people who do work with me know I'm easy to teach and always willing to learn something new. After all, nothing works without practice and where else can you get room practice at? :D Wish me luck!

I'm living in a new area now, about an hour away from where I originally stayed and lived my whole life. I'm living with a wonderful man, his parents are very loving and I love them as my own. I'm only writing this because as I look out the bedroom window into the sunny Florida weather to the people that live around here and that I've gotten to know, I can finally say I'm happy again.

Ever since my life went spiraling down after late 2009, I struggled through college. Many times I want to give up with it and just do something normal. I almost stopped believing in dreams and happiness. This world we live in likes to make you panic and give up such wonderful and precious things. You start to forget everything happens for a reason and you loose track of how beautiful this world really is. Yes, it will have its ugly times (war, people dying, etc.) but take these times, even if they had effected you directly, to look around yourself. Look at your loved ones, what you have now, still. Remember no matter how bad things get, you still have wonderful things, people, dreams, and yourself. After every storm ,there is a sunny day behind it. You jsut have to let it take its course before you can see it.

Yup, going to keep a blog of this job I'm doing. It's been awhile since I last updated and for that I am sorry. I recently graduated, moved, and in the process of job searching like crazy. Such is life. :) But here we go, I published my own website that I will attach this blog to soon, and working on some comics and other commissions. One of which is this shark tattoo for a friend :D

Values and Understanding

Constantly the boundaries between friendships and relations are always being tested. I have watched countless couples, friends, break apart because of what they clash with. It's not about what you like and don't like, its about understanding. If you understand their views, walk a day in their shoes, you'll get somewhere. Even if you do not like what they are doing, try to put yourself there, to understand. Then there are times when families conflict with each other. My family is very close, but as you know, my father and I sometimes clash. I've studied his world, I grew up in school learning about his generation and how things worked. I even remember I once built a old fashioned animation box. I enjoyed myself learning how to do things back then. Now I talk to my father about whats going on with my generation and he becomes defensive. He claims he doesn't have time to learn about everything that's going on in my world. He doesn't need all the technology because in the end it becomes to expensive to repair. I try to keep my mouth shut over these times, because it's a never ending argument. I do understand, that some things today get expensive, but I'm not asking him to buy it. I'm asking him to understand it. It breaks my heart, when I try to explain my major to my father, and all he does is look at me like I'm crazy. I hardly show him my art work anymore, just because I know he'll never understand it. Don't get me wrong, I love my father, he's a great dad, always will be. I just wish he would take the time to understand. He thinks being the age he is, he doesn't have it in him to understand it all. But he doesn't understand that I don't want him to understand it all, just me, just what I do. I want him to be able to look at a commercial and instead of going "That was stupid" because of the graphics. I want him to be able to say "My daughter can do that". I want him to be able to tell his co-workers and friends what I do, without going "drawing cartoons or something...". I wish he would just understand me, understand what I love to do.

This is a typical interview set of questions given to me to answer. I answered as honestly as possible.

Tell me about yourself.

My name is Jamie Porazinski. I'm a very outgoing, joyful 22 year old that has been in character and concept design for over 5 years. I work well under stress and can easily handle multiple projects.

Describe a typical day in your current life.

Well, a typical day would be very boring really. I get up, grab something light for breakfast and then I'm on my computer working on my portfolio and current art works. I take breaks to play my guitar or go visit my parents for a couple hours. My three year old nephew is always over there so we get to play a lot. And my best friend likes to come over randomly to entertain me with her awesome cooking.

What type of job are you looking for?

I'm looking for a job where I can create interesting yet simple characters. I enjoy this kinda of work because it lets me think outside of the box and have fun with it.

Why do you think you will be successful at this job?

Because I am very open minded to new things, whether I personally like them or not. I love to learn new things and if I do not understand something, I ask questions till I do.

Tell me about your dream job.

My dream job would be becoming lead Character Artist on animated films and video games.

What are your goals for the next five to ten years?

I would like to be married and have a house somewhere away from the city chaos. Somewhere between the five to ten years I want to be on a team for creating video game characters and environments.

Why do you want to be a designer?

Because it lets me be free. I love the idea that any thought, any random thought at all can turn into something that makes people have fun.

What are you most passionate about?

Creating and innovation.

Start with your graduation from college and explain the rationale behind each of your career moves.

Career moves all depend on your connections and networking. Most of mine were based on being resistant and never giving up on something I wanted to do.

Have you ever been fired from a job? Why?

No, I have never been fired.

(If applicable) What did you do during this gap in employment?

Between gaps, I like to freelance and give my time to the local church I grew up with. I try to keep myself busy and keep up my portfolio.

Tell me about the previous work experience you excelled at most. Why do you think you were successful at this job?

I work for Busch Gardens: Howl-O-Scream [Florida] as a scare actor. I believe this job is what really pushed my passion for design. I worked as a bush, dressed in a gillie suit and everything. I pushed my boundaries, even morphed my costume a bit and everyone loved it.

What would you do differently if you could start your working life over?

Make it more structured.

Have you worked with someone you didn't like? If so, how did you handle it?

Of course, I handled it by sucking it up really. There will always be someone in the work field we don't like, but in the end if you really like your job, you'll get over it as long as no one causes any problems.

Tell me about a time that you didn't work well with a supervisor. What was the outcome and how could you have changed the outcome?

I honestly haven't come into this situation yet.

How do you get along with older co-workers?

Just fine, I attend to get along with a lot of different age groups.

Do you prefer to work independently or on a team? Why?

Oh man, it depends on the project. I love to work on a team when it comes to creating something large and different. If the project is small then independent makes it easier to think clearly.

Tell me about a time that you participated in a team. What was your role?

The last time I work on a team project was for my internship in an animation studio. I helped with so many things from cleaning up inks, coloring in flats, and doing shadows to each of the frames. I loved it!

How do you balance life and work?

Surprisingly easy. I pace myself with my work so I'm never over whelmed by last minute deadlines. I make time for my life so I can relax. I do take my work around with me, lets just say no one ever has to ask me for a pencil, there is always one laying around somewhere!

How would you describe the pace at which you work?

Ahh I kinda mentioned that in the last question. It all depends on the work load. Something large scaled needs a good pace to get things done on time. I'll take a section of work, a responsible section and set a time frame to get all of it done.

Do you procrastinate? If so, how do you deal with Procrastination?

Jezz, what artist doesn't? Much like writer's block, I get artist's block. I try to deal with it by keeping my mind on the project and going to something else creative. Such as playing my guitar or browsing something related to the project on hand. Keep things flowing ya know?

How could you improve your time management skills?

By setting myself on a time system. Try and keep things consistent so I'm not always tired. I miss seeing the light of day.

Have you ever broken a deadline? Tell me about it.

I do not believe I've never missed a major deadline. What I mean by this is things that were very important such as a final exam or getting work done by the date assigned by a client. I always seem to mess up small deadlines such as meeting my parents on time for a fishing tournament they go to.

Tell me about a client, employer, or teacher who was not satisfied with your work. What – if anything – did you do to improve the situation?

The best situation I can think of would be of a teacher I had. I turned in my progress for midterms. I don't believe we had the same taste in styles, so I wasn't expecting him to like mine to much. So I turned around for the final to mix the two styles, but kept the part of the project mine.

How do you handle stress and pressure?

Easy, calmly as possible. There is no use in blowing up over something. Besides, if you freak out over it, then mistakes are made. I take the energy of being stressed and pressured and try to put that into the work that needs to be done.

What motivates you?

My family and friends. I'm the first in my family to graduate college and I want to make the best of it. Also the site of children's faces when I draw out cartoons for them, makes me feel butterflies.

If the people who know you were asked why you should be hired, what would they say?

That I will get the job done and still have fun in the process. I'm easy to work with and learn quickly.

What type of work environment do you prefer? (E.g. corporate, small company, informal/formal)

I like the work environment Pixar has, it's very laid back yet professional. I think having a view customizable work place does wonders for the employees.

What are your salary expectations for the near future? What are those expectations based on?

My expectations are to be making close to 80k a year in the future. I want to be comfortable in what I make. I make this kind of expectation based on research and interviews I've done with others in the same career as myself.

Why are you leaving your current job?

My current job is my art work, I can never leave it or turn away from it. It's like a lost puppy that you fed in the park, it never leaves!

Have you had contact with customers or clients before? If so, in what context?

Oh yes, plenty of both. They were mostly friends of friends, or people who came to me to make custom birthday cards.

Tell me about a customer or client you have worked with who was difficult. How did you prevent conflict from ruining the relationship?

If I know a customer or client is going to be difficult, I try my best to let the client talk and tell me exactly what they want and are expecting. I write all this down of course. After re-reading what they told me, I ask my questions, just to make sure I have a clear understanding of what they want. This is normally where the conflict comes up, I do my best to keep the peace and keep everything clear. Just so we both are on the same page.

Oh god, I'm off of deviantart for how many days? And I come back to over 6k messages and pictures to look at. I love you guys!....but no, I refuse to go through that many, I had a very long week and labor day weekend. It ALLLLLL started on Friday, when I had to class to attend! I slept in (finnaalllyyy) only to get a call from my bestie Tatiana so she can stay the night. She comes over only to remind me we are suppose to go to Adventure Island on Saturday. So i had to get myself ready for that, do all the girly things I love (HATE) to do etc. So the next morning we went to pick up her boyfriend Javi and his brother Jaime (think Spanish for his name). From 10AM to 5:30 PM we stay at that park and the Lazy River became our well known friend! I believe we went on every ride, even the little kiddie ones! My feet are still sore but at least I finally got some sun on my legs and tummy. ....and than! (and than,and than,and than,and than,and than,and than,and than) I came home sore and tired. BUT i stayed up extra late to practice songs I had been given at 8PM Saturday to learn for a concert I was playing in Sunday night. Lets just say those are the fastest songs I had ever learned to play on the guitar. Yes, the GUITAR. I play guitar for those of you who don't know. I wish I had someone to record it, I'll ask around for that next time and show you guys. ....and than! (and than,and than,and than,and than,and than,and than,and than) Sunday I was playing the guitar from 9:30AM till 4PM. On Sunday mornings I volunteer my guitar-ieness to the church I grew up with. So the band we are forming more and more doesn't have a name, but we love to rock. Me and the bass player Jaime (yes Jaime from Adventure Island) are trying to get together more often and just play to play, but I think we might do more of that once I am done with school, even if he is in school himself. From 4pm to 5:45pm I had a break to semi-start my laundry at my parents house haha, than i went back to practice more for the concert "LIVE" that started at 6:30PM. Even if it was only 5 songs we played, we made the best of them. Even if the last song I completely made up my tabs out of no where. I just new the song was in G and went with it. (Hahah shhh that's suppose to be a secret!) Monday, I finished my Laundry and played "Monster with my nephew all day, he's three. Than sometime after that I completely chilled out and neglected my art work. and Tuesday, I went to my internship at Fates (clicky link) Humoring the Fates Yes, shameless promotion, I'm sure they don't mind I was there for most of the day. 2PM till 9PM? Ben got me gummy bears I was happy for the rest of the day! So I colored and shadowed my way through some tweens in a scene. I try to do what I can for the day, because I have so much other homework to do (like a paper to write that I haven't started...) I need at least one day to do it with. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my only real days off. Monday, Thursday, and Friday I have classes and weekends go to practicing guitar for thy band (Carlos should love this entry, he doesn't know I practice or thinks I do ) and this is my week! Finally getting into my concepts of my main characters. Here is Alacard and Coraw :) I'm bringing sexy back....oops what? Anyway, these two are a pair in the story but they are very...clashie. Shes a rebel princess during the feudal era and he's a science from the year 2496. His so called lab partner majored in travel and time while Alacard majored in the brain and body's limitations. Let's just say his lab partner used alacard as a lab rat and got him sucked into the Fedual era, etc. To much to explain that one day when I get it all written down, you will read :)~ have fun.

I was over at my parents for most of the day after my classes. I try to go over there as often as I can for purposes of just letting them know I'm still alive. My mother cooks and then goes to sleep some time after, my brother messes around with his stereo and my dad relaxes watching the baseball game. I sit with him normally and wonder between the game and my nephew. While sitting with my father, we begin talking about values and material things. This all came up because it was the Rays vs The Yankees games and there was this guy there, Alex R. I think. He had his 600th home run hit to make till he matched Babe Ruth from the 1930s. Dad was annoyed with the fact they had to make special baseballs for this. He thinks it was just another way for the player (that's already getting paid 40mil a year) to make more money. He thinks sports players are over paid and need to go to people like firefighters and education. In the end it got me thinking, money is always going to be a hidden meaning behind most things. In te end if you like what your doing as a career go do it. Things like a home run baseball is something like a trophy, something you can remember your achievement over. Dad explained how he didn't need these things to remember, but some people like to see those things. I remember reading in a news article that Michael Jackson never kept one of his awards in his home because he didn't need to see them to know what he had achieved. I don't believe myself that you have to have those things to be happy in what you accomplished. I think my father is very stuck into the fact of reality rather then letting the sky have endless limits. But I understand he comes from the era that's nothing but hard work to get what you want in the end. Things like sports and creativity are the easy ways out. Somewhere along the lines of thinking all this, I began to feel teary eyed. Don't get me wrong, I love my father. He's very childish sometimes and goofs around a lot. Though sometimes, I think he's just so stuck in his own world he doesn't put himself in others shoes enough. We clash so many times of different subjects and people it makes me want to cry that he cannot grasp my world as I have his. I understand what he comes from, and from my point of view, its a sad place. I hope if he ever reads this that he knows I love him always, but I want him to believe in me. Believe in the things I see, feel, and try to do. I want my father to find that one thing in life he had as a child that would make him happy again today. I wish he would see the would through a child's eyes and find that world of wonder like we all had at one point.

Most if you know who I am, but for those of you who don't, my name is Jamie Porazinski. To the date of this blog entry, I am 22 years old and a senior in college. Most people say I come off as a 30 something year old when I get into intellectual talks with them. They think I know and carry myself well beyond my years. Now let me explain why I'm making this entry instead of posting some funny comic drawing or other piece of art work. I'm doing this because I think it might be the only way for people to hear what I have to say, just one person, one woman. I do not just want to ideally stand by and watch this world go through hell on a TV screen. And no, I'm not just someone else sitting by and complaining with out taking action myself. Once college is over, that's when my big plans start. I walk to school when the weather permits (the heat in Florida is dangerous in the summer). I watch the faces of people passing by in their cars. It's so sad, most of them either are on the phone or rushing to get somewhere. If I never took this first walk to my school, I would have never seen the beauty in two small lakes I pass by in my car when I go to school. I can see the fish swimming around, birds and turtles floating in the lilly pads. I was late to class one morning because I just had to stop and sit by a tree to draw it. Since leaving high school, I became someone else, someone different then I wanted to be. In this world, it teaches you once you hit a curtain age, you have to grow up. No more childhood fantasies, no nap times, no play times in the mud, not even being about to climb trees. I remember sitting on the steps to my porch by myself while my mom slept in the day time. I would look up to the three large trees in our front yard and listen to the wind sweep through the branches. Oh mercy, it was beautiful. I'd close my eyes and talk to the nature around me, the pure bliss of being surrounded by something that allowed us to live. I was just a child and knew this concept more then I think I should have. I believe it's the result of growing up very misunderstood and out-cased in most social groups. I had to become someone else, something people would love to be around. I craved friends, so I twisted my image into something else. I think it was the worse around my senior year in high school; and no one noticed. I tired to be myself again, to shrug off the person I didn't want to be, but every time I cracked a joke to my friends, they would look at me annoyed. Most of the time I just received that 'are you stupid' look. I hated it, so then I become quite and reserved to myself hiding away again. No one understood me, at least not till after high school and I finally had a best friend to confine in. I wanted to play, make people laugh, smile. I believe that is the best way to make life something worth while. Some people didn't understand, how I could make jokes when things were upset or sad. But to my best understanding, we need all the help we can get. Life is to short, you have to pick and choose your battles carefully because this world is filled with enough hate and not enough laughter. That day, sitting by the lake and drawing the scenery I started to cry. I felt myself coming back, the playfulness, the child in myself. Oh how I missed her! Memories of me climbing trees and playing pirates with some of the kids on the block starting flooding back to me. Even the hard times in school and being picked on constantly for being so quiet and drawing all the time. I didn't care, I had myself again. I could just be. My nephew was born about 3 in a half years ago. He's something else. I loved it. I see the glow in his eyes that I love to have back in my own life. I never understood why we as humans had to let go of that childhood innocents. It might be because of the environment the world as turned into, but none the less, it doesn't mean we still can't grasp it. I watch as he plays small little games of tossing his favorite stuff toy around, and listen as others tell him not to do that in the house. I feel a tug on my heart, I know they didn't want anything to get broken. I remember playing with my nephew in his room once, he had the blocks out. We started to build something, till it became a wall around myself on the floor. He then began to knock it down and toss the blocks in the air without a care in the world. I giggle and since we were in his room, I joined in. If we had more of a sense to things like this, I believe we would be better off. We get so attached to material things we forget what really matters. We forget what once made us happy. In a world that's so fast pace, we let the things we once enjoyed slip us by. As a child we didn't have to worry about driving to get here or get there. Instead we took what we had at the moment around us and made the best of it. If people stopped and slowed down, we could see the big picture in life. The oil spill in the gulf, the earthquake effects, the hurricanes, people's lives being televised and ruined like they were not even real humans but puppets for our entertainment. Why do we do this to ourselves? Is it because my skin color is different? Or does he not believe in the right God? Does her piercings make you uncomfortable? Is that portfolio out of place at work? I miss being a kid, when things like this didn't matter to us. Maybe if we could all find it again, we could all cry at the same time, with each other.

So, due to one of my classes *Cough* simeion *cough* I have to keep a schedule of my possessing throughout the quarter, so what im going to do it keep a schedule for ALL my classes so I can keep myself in check for ALL my classes :) because they all call for a huge work load that I know I can do I just have to get less sleep to do it! (i sense a few all nighters coming my way....*sigh*)

Jane Eyre - Concept art

So, I'm in a game art class, so we think about making video games in this project we are making a game based off of the book "Jane Eyre". This is to practice going through the steps that it takes to make characters / designing everything. I was assigned two characters, Mr. R and his Wife, Mrs. R. so this is the first two design i came up with. I like the fatter version of him. It's fun to draw up and it makes it easier to cross dress him (its part of the story, concept art coming up for that). I think the bigger image of him is a bit to short looking so im going with the one of him stepping down on the steps with his pocket watch out. enjoy

This is the idea, My toon is holding up the bottom half of the logo to the Sequential Arts club (my spelling sucks, thats why i had jared txt me eight times for just the logo spelling lol) On the notes to the sketch you can see bullet to the lines i would put in the bubble (where the "This is a test?!" is) You can see I was playing around with the background as well, thinking I might not put one in but well see. If I have to (and if the others want me to..jared...zero) I will make the logo thing that I got going on the paper as well if you want me to. On the upper half of this will be Zero's character pulling up the sign on the right side ~~> (that side) in his own comic-ish panel. does it work? yes? no? help...

I did this drawing awhile ago, but never got to finish coloring it. Going through all my old unfinished files made me wanna finish a few of them. This is Gomon in her original style from Dragonball Z, I like to believe shes in a fight against Vegeta :3 And for those of you who don't know Gomon's background in DBZ, she's Goku sister, her saiyan name Ziencora just like in Dragon's Eye. Haha This is just remembering how Gomon was made from watching so many DBZ episodes over the years.
